    – The State Deputy encourages Councils to support the Global Wheelchair Mission: Councils can purchase a wheelchair for use at their parish or a preferred location for $150; Wheelchairs for the Virginia Wheelchair donation program are $125, check payable to the State Council and mailed to the State Secretary. Memo line on the check must state ‘Wheelchairs.’  Additionally, if a council purchases ten wheelchairs at $1,500 dollars they will get two credits on the SP7 and they need to report it on the Faith In Action Fraternal Programs Report (form #10784).  For more information about the Wheelchair Mission in Virginia, please contact Bob Maher at paws618@embarqmail.com.

Keep Christ in Christmas

  • The VA KCIC mission is keeping alive the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ; God’s gift to the world.  This is done by providing the Catholic and wider Christian communities with products, such as Christmas Cards and services to “Keep CHRIST in Christmas” with special emphasis on service to Knights of Columbus Councils.     Poster Contest    

Box of Joy

  • Join Cross Catholic Outreach this fall in blessing a child with a Christmas gift!  The Box of Joy ministry provides Knights with a unique opportunity to participate in a simple and tangible “Faith in Action” service project that has a spiritual and material impact on the poorest of the poor children in developing countries.  Box of Joy program materials LINK

Silver Rose

Penny per Knight per Day

  • The “Penny per Knight per Day” program, commonly known as “PKD”, is a Virginia State Council program to collect funds to support vocations.   To learn more, click HERE

Polar Plunge

  • The Polar Plunge is Virginia’s main fund raiser for Special Olympics.  Watch here for more information and guidance to help each Council raise at least $300 in support of this important activity.    To learn more, click HERE

Special Olympics

  • Almost two hundred thousand dollars will be given by the Supreme Council and divided among each jurisdictions participating in Special Olympics. The amount given is based on council contributions of time and money.   To learn more, click HERE

Soccer Challenge

Father Bader Scholarship

  • To shape the spiritual development of our parishes’ greatest resource, our youth, the Virginia Knights of Columbus offer a special program to award scholarships for these young men and women to help fund personal education costs.

Knight of the Year

The “Knight of the Year” is usually chosen from those Knights named “Knight of the Month” in the preceding twelve months.  Councils participating in the Knight of the Month program should also select a Knight of the Year. When selecting your council’s Knight of the Year, follow guidelines similar to those used by the committee in choosing Knight of the Year.  Eligible Knight of the year recipients must be a member in good standing with the Knights of Columbus.  Knight of the Year is usually chosen from those Knights named Knight of the Month in the preceding months.  Your council judging committee should consider whether each knight has continued to exemplify the traits of a solid Catholic man.  Determine which council member stands above the rest in promotion of the principles of our Church and our Order. Which knight can best be called the “model” man for all in the parish to follow?  In every aspect of service to the Church, community and council, as well as to each other, which member most deserves the title, Knight of the Year?  Selection of a Knight of the Year and submission to the State General Programs Director is a requirement for the State Deputy Award; follow the guidelines on the state submission form by providing as much detail as possible that will support a strong nomination for recognition as the Virginia State Knight of the Year.  Additional paper may be used if space allocated is not sufficient.  Photographs, news clippings, letters of commendation or other special exhibits may be included.
